There
are almost 38,000 retail outlets in Tamil nadu. Majority of the owners of the medical stores
are not registered pharmacists. They are
engaging Registered pharmacists to obtain sales drugs licenses. The licenses are granted on the basis that
the pharmacists are working as full time pharmacists and declaration to that
effect also given by the Registered pharmacists. But unfortunately most of the Registered
pharmacists are not working on full time basis, because of salary
constraints. To comply with the Pharmacy
Act and the Drugs & Cosmetics Act the registered pharmacists must pledge to
undertake to work as full time qualified persons only. For that the following Resolution can be made
:
a) Minimum
Rs.20,000/- salary per month must be paid to the Registered Pharmacists who
will work on full time basis [8 hours].
b) Sales
drug licenses must be issued only to the registered pharmacists.
c) Strict
action to be taken on medical stores where full time pharmacists are not
available.
d) The
registered pharmacists should ensure the safety of the public as well as the storage and quality of the
drugs in all sectors.
